Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Ride + Lunch 13/mild-moderate/30-35

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Ride + Lunch

Starting from the Strip District, the ride heads out of town by way of Lawrenceville. We'll take Allegheny River Blvd through Oakmont and cross the Hulton Bridge, before heading north into Fox Chapel, then heads back to Schenley Park, making a stop at the annual Vintage Grand Prix. Our stop in Schenley Park will allow riders some time to browse the vintage car show or take in some of the race action, before we head back to the Strip District for lunch.

We'll park in the Strip District and meet in front of the Heinz History Center on Smallman Street to roll out at 8:00 am. Following the ride, we'll meet back up for lunch at:

Gaucho Parrilla Argentina
1601 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

The ride will be 30-35 miles and combines some city-riding and less trafficked rolling terrain in Fox Chapel. We try to stay together in the city and take the lane where practical. There are some mild to moderate climbs once we get out to Fox Chapel, including a roughly 2-mile climb on Guys Run Road starting around MP 13. We will wait at the top of the climb for the entire pack to re-group.

Rules of The Ride

There's only 1 rule...

The group will wait at turns and at the top of long climbs.  It is not uncommon to have riders separate due to red lights when inside the city limits.  We ask that riders who proceed through lights please stop and wait at the next turn for the rest of the group and do so in a safe manner giving additional room for other riders to safely move to the side of the street.
